Mi Casita - A Capstone Production
Mi Casita explores the Puerto Rican community in Syracuse NY through the eyes of local artist, Manuel Matias. The film follows Manuel as he finds belonging and connection for himself and his children at La Casita, a local Latin Cultural Center that offers Spanish language courses, community events, and after-school programs. Through sharing his art at La Casita, Manuel finds a vibrant Puerto Rican community and revitalizes his connection to his heritage, even while being so far away from the Island. Overall, Mi Casita explores memory, longing for an unreachable place, and the Puerto Rican diaspora in Syracuse, NY.
